Natural gas withdrawal season has started at Inčukalns underground gas storage

The single operator of the natural gas transmission and storage system Conexus Baltic Grid AS (Conexus) informs that on 15 October, at the beginning of the official natural gas withdrawal season, users of the Inčukalns underground gas storage facility (UGS) transferred a total of 12.8 TWh of natural gas for storage.

In response to the geopolitical situation in Europe, injection into Inčukalns UGS started already at the end of February this year in parallel with the natural gas withdrawals. As a result, 7.6 TWh of natural gas was stored in the storage facility between February and the official end of the natural gas injection season.

In order to contribute to the security and continuity of natural gas supply, natural gas will also be pumped into storage during the withdrawal season.

Uldis Bariss, Chairman of the Board of Conexus, informs: "In the run-up to this year's withdrawal season, the most important task has undoubtedly been to ensure the uninterrupted filling of the natural gas storage facility. The technical solution that will allow the natural gas storage to be filled in parallel with the withdrawal of natural gas is good news for both system users and end consumers."
