Conexus commissions the rebuilt gas transmission gas measuring station
The unified natural gas and transmission operator Conexus Baltic Grid JSC (Conexus) has commissioned the gas transmission gas measuring station "Korneti", Korneti, Alūksne Municipality. Total investment of the project are 1.4 Mio euro and during the project the station is equipped with new gas accounting and quality determination devices.
The aim of reconstruction project of the gas measuring station (GMS) was to replace the outdated accounting and quality determination devices, modernize the object’s management systems, and install the back-up equipment. The project lasted for two years and the required funding was provided by Conexus.
Zane Kotāne, Chairperson of Board of "Conexus Baltic Grid" JSC informs: "Latvia has one gas measuring station and its safe and accurate operation is an integral part of the gas transmission system and gas supply security in the region. After implementing the project, we have created one of the most modern cross-border gas measuring stations in the Europe."
During the project, the new generation gas meters and flow computers, dewpoint, sulphur compounds and gas composition detection equipment was installed, and the management and reporting system was completely improved.
Ivars Cibuļskis, Head of Gas transmission tells: "Considering the strategic significance of GMS "Korneti" in secure gas supply in the region, it is important to ensure accurate, transparent and traceable gas accounting. It can be achieved by use of modern technologies that continuously develop. The implemented modernization project will ensure stable and secure operation of gas measuring station".
